Emma.. is a sweet and loyal girl, although sweet, she's definitely not timid or shy..she's an independent and strong woman.. a very good match for our uhm.. my Jacob.

Aside from the fact that their story is hot and sweet and cute.. I won't go and summarize the story..it'll just spoil the fun, go ahead and READ.THIS.NOW! you will surely enjoy this..whenever I do finish reading a KA's book it never fails to leave me in a dreamy state and badly wanting to meet my own badass guy..this book rocks and so is the author...awesomeness level 6/5

Falling for the Backup (Assassins, #3.5)Falling for the Backup by Toni Aleo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads Summary:

That is, until the hottest guy she’s ever seen is seated next to her on the flight and dazzles her with his easy laugh and killer smile. But just when she thinks things are getting good, he vanishes, leaving Aynslee wondering, was that guy the one? And did she just let him slip through her fingers?

Former superstar goalie Jordan Ryan is back on the ice—finally. After a crippling knee injury that had him wondering if he’d ever play pro hockey again, he’s got his full attention on rebuilding his career. So a pretty—okay, beautiful—girl on a plane shouldn’t be a distraction. But Jordan is very, very distracted. And when Aynslee crosses his path again, he’s not sure any job in the world is worth missing his second chance with a woman like her.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from the Loveswept title Empty Net.

My Review:

Is Falling for the Backup good?

Better than what I expected. Imagine my excitement when I've read the email confirming that I can now read and review this awesome book..gah!! Thank so much Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept, I fell in love with Toni Aleo's book, Taking Shots and became a fan of her right after devouring and finishing that fantastic book..so anyways here's my review:

Falling for the Backup is shorter than the first three but definitely as good as them. Jordan as expected of Toni Aleo's hero..is dreamy and a total hottie, it's really hard not love him :< lol..I want my own Jordan!! Aynslee, our main girl here is a lovely redhead, I loved it that she's a redhead and that she's not shy to pursue Jordan, I just wish I could be like her..confident enough to make Jordan realize how awesome she is :D.

Favorite line: "You're not her normal type. She usually goes for fairy looking guys." - Bowie
as always Toni Aleo never fails to make me laugh, I always love the humor that is always present in her books. The Cover, err it's hot and all but I don't think I can read a paperback copy with that cover, in public lol.

I got this copy via net galley, again.. Thank you so much! Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept for giving me the chance to read and review it. Will be doing a Full review of  Empty Net and Taking Shot book 1 and 3 soon.

Book Review: The Sparrow and the Hawk (Tales of the Sparrow)

The Sparrow and the Hawk (Tales of the Sparrow)The Sparrow and the Hawk by Meg Lacey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

Jillie Harte, code name the Sparrow, a documentary film maker is an agent for the NAS (Normal, Abnormal, Strange) Agency. Her assignment-find The Carmaletta Choker before it falls into the wrong hands and destroys the world. Franklin Doherty and associates are suspected of having the choker, and they are definitely the wrong hands! To get close to Franklin, Jillie is producing a film on "Decoration, Fashion and Accessories Throughout History," featuring his antique collection. Her assignment is complicated by Griff Ryland, her new, hot cameraman, who is also looking for the necklace. Griff is an enigma. Is he friend or foe? And why is she so distracted by his "pure sex on a stick" appeal? Like the Sparrow, Griff, aka the Hawk, needs to retrieve the choker. It disappeared from his dimension years before, and his job is to bring it back. Since he can shapeshift into a hawk or a mountain lion at a moment's notice, Griff feels certain of success. But he doesn't bargain for a sassy, sexy redhead-and for his overwhelming urge to settle their differences in bed. Now Griff and Jillie must not only overcome the deadly dark forces who want the choker, but they must also face their developing relationship. And they thought saving the world from evil and chaos was hard!!!!

My Thoughts:

I find the cover awkward(I'm restraining myself from saying more ugh hahah), if I haven't read the summary..I'm not sure if I'm going to read this at all lol, don't judge the book by it's cover applies here because I seriously enjoyed and loved reading The Sparrow and the Hawk regardless of my hate for the cover. The book is magical in a dark and twisted way. The characters are all kinds of mysterious and very unpredictable, they all carry big secrets from one another.

I loved both Jillie and Griff's character and their amazing...or let say sizzling chemistry. But I also love the fact that the story doesn't revolve around them, in other words..there is a love story in here, but we also experience more action and disturbing incidents..and creepy situations...gah those creepy situation are so detailed, my imaginations are running wild.

Aside from our main characters, we also have amazing secondary characters which reminds me of some "Alice in the Wonderland" characters, mysterious and dangerously mischievous...which I definitely liked! specially Franklin, he's err scary, creepy and funny at the same time..and his house, gah! If I happen to visit that freaking house and experience what Jillie experience I'll run as fast as I can far (very far) away from that hunted place.

Overall, I can say that I enjoyed and loved reading The Sparrow and the Hawk, and was sad when I reach the last page, looking forward to reading the second book!

Book Review: Outcast by Adrienne Kress

OutcastOutcast by Adrienne Kress

ebook, 283 pages
Published June 4th 2013 by Diversion Books
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

After six years of “angels” coming out of the sky and taking people from her town, 16-year-old Riley Carver has just about had it living with the constant fear. When one decides to terrorize her in her own backyard, it’s the final straw. She takes her mother’s shotgun and shoots the thing. So it’s dead. Or … not? In place of the creature she shot, is a guy. A really hot guy. A really hot alive and breathing guy. Oh, and he’s totally naked.

Not sure what to do, she drags his unconscious body to the tool shed and ties him up. After all, he’s an angel and they have tricks. When he regains consciousness she’s all set to interrogate him about why the angels come to her town, and how to get back her best friend (and almost boyfriend) Chris, who was taken the year before. But it turns out the naked guy in her shed is just as confused about everything as she is.

He thinks it’s 1956.

Set in the deep south, OUTCAST is a story of love, trust, and coming of age. It’s also a story about the supernatural, a girl with a strange sense of humor who’s got wicked aim, a greaser from the 50’s, and an army of misfits coming together for one purpose: To kick some serious angel ass.

My Review:

When I read the " A really hot guy. A really hot alive and breathing guy. Oh, and he’s totally naked." part in the book summary..I knew right there and then that I have to read this haha..did I just sound like total pervert? to say that I enjoyed reading Outcast would be an understatement. I freaking loved it from the first chapter to the last.

Outcast is pretty different from the previous angel-theme books I've read in the past, I mean.. the heroine didn't always shoot some angel guy..only to find him naked, then bound and gagged him right? I totally loved Riley for doing that! seriously..this is why I love reading books..you get to read some crazy things.

I loved Gabe, the naked angel guy whom Riley bound then gagged..(I'm kind of obsessed with that part :P..kinky!) I loved that the two of them didn't have this insta-love..it was nice to see their uhm captor-captive relationship blossoming to friendship then to something else.

Outcast is a very fun and intriguing read, I'm excited for more of Gabe and Riley..I don't know what to expect next with the way things ended in this book..but I'm pretty positive that the second book will be as good if not better than the first.

I highly recommend this to Paranormal-(naked)Angel loving readers. :D

Sworn to Raise (Courtlight #1)Sworn to Raise by Terah Edun

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

Seventeen-year-old Ciardis has grown up in poverty, a cleaner in a small vale on the outskirts of the kingdom. But beneath her kingdom’s seemingly idyllic surface lies a hidden secret. Whispers of an inept crown Prince are growing ever louder—intensified by the five year anniversary of the soulbond initiations.

Amidst scandalous whispers, Ciardis finds herself chosen to train for the Companion’s Guild. She leaves her home and sets off on a personal journey to become a Court Companion. A position she’d never thought possible for a lowly servant to obtain, she must prove that she has the skills to attract a Patron.

But she must master those skills quickly. If the legends are true, only Ciardis can harness the power to raise a Prince in an Imperial Court sworn to bring him down.

***I requested and received a free copy of this book via NetGalley.

I'm always fascinated with stories about "companions", like Memoirs of a Geisha or stories about Kisaeng (korean geisha) because back in the days, those companions are not just companions, they are bunch of talented ladies who spend a lot of time mastering the art of entertaining, they are known for their exceptional skills in dancing, acting, playing various instruments and more. If the a certain companion manage to become a high ranking and most coveted companion, they become powerful in the sense that they can influence their "patrons" and most of that patrons are actually the most powerful men in their country.

Sworn to Raise tells the story of Ciardis, a girl who grow up in poverty but was given the chance to become a companion, if she'll manage to prove her worth. But being a companion is not just learning how to dance and recite poetry, in their world i'ts more..it's about possessing a different type of skill which is magic.

Ciardis is a character that is not hard to like and understand, she's not some soft kind of heroine, contrary to that..although naive she's streetwise and thank goodness far from being an annoying-dramatic-type-of-heroine, instead of complaining when facing hard situation she takes action.

In a way Sworn to Raise reminds me of one of my favorite fantasy series which is the Study series, hopefully Ciadris will became stronger just like Yelena.

All in all I can say that I absolutely enjoy reading Sworn to Raise, I love the world building and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the Series.

Cobweb Bride by Vera Nazarian

Cobweb Bride (Cobweb Bride Trilogy, #1)
Cobweb Bride by Vera Nazarian
ebook, 293 pages

Expected publication: July 15th 2013 by Norilana Books

Book Summary:
Many are called...
She alone can save the world and become Death's bride.

COBWEB BRIDE (Cobweb Bride Trilogy, Book One) is a history-flavored fantasy novel with romantic elements of the Persephone myth, about Death's ultimatum to the world.

What if you killed someone and then fell in love with them?

In an alternate Renaissance world, somewhere in an imaginary "pocket" of Europe called the Kingdom of Lethe, Death comes, in the form of a grim Spaniard, to claim his Bride. Until she is found, in a single time-stopping moment all dying stops. There is no relief for the mortally wounded and the terminally ill....

Covered in white cobwebs of a thousand snow spiders she lies in the darkness... Her skin is cold as snow... Her eyes frozen... Her gaze, fiercely alive...

While kings and emperors send expeditions to search for a suitable Bride for Death, armies of the undead wage an endless war... A black knight roams the forest at the command of his undead father… Spiesand political treacheries abound at the imperial Silver Court....Murdered lovers find themselves locked in the realm of the living...

Look closer — through the cobweb filaments of her hair and along each strand shine stars...

And one small village girl, Percy—an unwanted, ungainly middle daughter—is faced with the responsibility of granting her dying grandmother the desperate release she needs.
As a result, Percy joins the crowds of other young women of the land in a desperate quest to Death's own mysterious holding in the deepest forests of the North...

And everyone is trying to stop her.

My Review:

Wow! This novel is wonderful and well-written. I enjoyed reading it and I can't stop thinking about it.

This novel started with different characters and their stories, confusing me at first
but later prove to be effective, because we are given a glimpse of each of the characters lives and personality, making it easier to feel connected with them. I keep on making my own assumptions on how the story will progress, but later on given up because it keeps on surprising me, I was really intrigue.. there was a story within a story and instead of feeling overwhelm I'm curious I wanted to know more, uncover all the secrets..especially Grial's secret's :P there is so much more to know about Grial and my speculations is giving me a headache.

The Characters. I can honestly say that I'm quite attached with the girls, not just with Percy which I've grown to like, more and more with every chapter...I didn't expect her to be so strong deep within..nobody expects her to, she was describe as dull-witted at first, which horrified me because how can a weak and dull-witted heroine will survive all the craziness that is happening in the book? but no! she demonstrate how strong she is by being a good leader, knowing and setting her priorities in order to keep her and her girls safe. Death, the bridegroom *sigh I wanted him for myself, I mean for Percy hahah but I don't want to expect :< I'm hoping for more of him in the next book.

Beltain, the black knight, he's fast becoming one of my favorite characters, he's fierce but we all know how good he is, just a little bit lost of what or whom to follow and can I say that I smell a love triangle here ohohoh :P but who knows?. Claere Liguon, I am excited on what will happen to her and Vlau, because the growing connection between the two of them cannot be denied, but with Claere's condition I'm afraid to hope. As for Duke Chidair, I wanted him dead, unable to move dead.(gahh I'm getting violent here :P)

Suggestions. I would love to see a map included in the book, the positions of the kingdom, towns etc. it will be great for my no sense of direction brain :D. And as for the cover, I'm not so sure if it will attract the younger readers, but that's just me.

So all in all I can honestly say that I loved it! The bloody details :D everything!
and I'm so looking forward for the second book :)

Will I recommend it? Yes! to the fantasy and blood loving readers, grab your own copy now at net galley :)
